Home to the World`s Largest Axe
Incorporated: 1976       Population: 1024
Recognized as Forestry Capital of Canada in 1991, Nackawic is situated on a panoramic bend on the Mactaquac head-pond of the St. John River. This modern-day town developed quickly as a result of two major river-valley changes; the mid-sixties construction of the Mactaquac hydroelectric dam and the 1970 opening of St. Anne Nackawic Pulp Mill. Relax on the waterfront and enjoy the river breeze before heading to a local eatery for a meal.

Get your picture taken with the World’s Largest Axe built from seven tons of stainless steel rising 15 metres (50ft.) above the shores of the St. John River. The large “Stump” serves as a stage.

After, stroll the International Garden on the waterfront. The arboretum has over fifty species of tress from around the world and its walking path is patterned after the course of the St. John River Valley.

Play a Round of Golf at Nackawic Golf & Country Club. This C.E Robinson designed course has a very playable classic layout, scenic views and the charm of a log clubhouse.
